One of the things that make The River's Edge a fun and peaceful getaway is our location away from the hustle and bustle (and traffic) of the big city. While it may seem we are located in the middle of nowhere, there are several towns located within a short drive.

Directions to Bowman:

(8 minutes, Approximately 6.5 miles)
  • Turn LEFT out of the campground.
  • Go approximately 4.2 miles until you come to a STOP SIGN.
  • Turn LEFT at stop sign.
  • At the next 4-way stop (approximately 2 miles) is the center of town.

Bowman Shopping:

  • Ray's Food Store
  • Dollar General
  • Bowman Mini Mart (Gas & Convenience Store)

Bowman Eateries:

  • Bowman House Restaurant
  • Jim's Grill

Directions to Elberton:

(13 minutes, Approximately 8 miles)
  • Turn RIGHT out of the campground and continue you come to a STOP SIGN.
  • Turn LEFT onto GA 17/Bowman Highway and drive 5.4 miles.
  • Take the RIGHT lane onto GA-17 S/GA-72 E.
  • This is the main road through town, most store and eateries are along it.

Directions to Hartwell:

(20 minutes, Approximately 14 miles)
  • Turn LEFT out of the campground and go about a half mile to Floyd Rd. on the right.
  • Turn RIGHT on to Floyd Rd and continue for about 2 miles until you come to a STOP SIGN. Cross the road (13 Forks Rd) on to Maple Springs Rd.
  • Continue on Maple Springs Rd for about 2.5 miles until you come to Highway GA 77 N.
  • Turn LEFT on to GA 77 N and continue about 9 miles to downtown Hartwell.
  • Turn RIGHT on to E Howell St and follow it a couple of blocks until it turns into E Franklin St. (GA 29).
  • Most stores and eateries are along West and East Franlkin Streets
